Outllook for Food and Drink Consumption
The UK market for food and drink is set to remain relatively static, rising from 65,856 tonnes in 2005 to 68,301 tonnes by 2010.
As with the global picture, the comparative success of high interest products such as meals, snacks and confectionery contribute only a fraction of total consumption. However, these markets are becoming increasingly complex and the key for both manufacturers and suppliers is to uncover opportunities in these dynamic markets.
Significant growth opportunities can still be seen in product segments such as ready meals and juices, soft drinks and carbonated with average annual growth rates of above 2% forecast for the period 2005 to 2010.
